The Container Transporters Association increased their rates by 20 per cent with effect from midnight on Sunday. Association President Sanath Manjula said as a result of the increase in prices in fuel they are compelled to increase rates.
He noted they are currently facing a surge in costs. Freight rates and insurance premiums have also increased.
