Newly appointed Country Director of the World Food Programme (WFP) to Sri Lanka Aburrahim Siddiqui presented his credentials to Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena at the Foreign Ministry yesterday, Ministry said.
The 50th anniversary of the long-standing relationship between the Government of Sri Lanka and the World Food Programme falls in November this year.
Accepting the credentials, Minister Gunawardena said that Ms. Brenda Barton, who served previously as Sri Lanka's Country Director to the World Food Programme had done an excellent job and that Sri Lanka expects similar cooperation from the new Country Director, the Ministry said in a statement.
The new Country Director of the World Food Program (WFP) to Sri Lanka Mr. Siddiqui said Sri Lanka and the World Food Programme (WFP) would work to further strengthen the existing close and friendly relationship.
