A couple smuggling a range of reptiles, rodents, and small mammals have been nabbed at the Bandaranaike International Airport in another breakthrough in investigations into the illegal pet trade.
The couple residing in Puwakpitiya, Awissawella had arrived from Bangkok on a SriLankan flight today morning.
Frogs, tortoises, squirrels, turtles, rodents were among those smuggled into the country.
The couple have been held for investigations with the customs trying to ascertain whether they were part of the larger net work involved in the illegal pet trade.
