World famous one man cheer leader Percy Abeysekara has been appointed as the Brand Ambassador to promote ‘Salusala’ products.
Mr Abeysekara who marks his 85th birthday tomorrow has been entrusted with promoting ‘Salusala’ products among senior citizens.
Currently the institution comes under the purview of the state Ministry of Batik, Handloom and local Apparel products which is headed by Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara.
He has been appointed for a one-year period and it does not involve any payments. However, in the event of his work involving travel, the institutions will provide travelling and accommodation if necessary.
“You are an important recognised icon in the history of Cricket. You are well known in both, within the country and outside the country. Therefore, we expect to get your services in time to come in promoting Batik and handloom in the cricketing arena as well”, the letter addressed by the chairman Lanka Salusala Ltd , Denzil Indrajith Perera said.
A felicitation ceremony for Mr Abeysekara presided over by Minister Jayasekara was due to be held at the World Trade Centre today evening.
