A faction of the SLFP, led by Dayasiri Jayasekara today decided to extend support to the SJB Leader and Samagi Jana Sandanaya candidate, Sajith Premadasa at the upcoming Presidential election.
Mr Jayasekara said that they would be signing an agreement with the Samagi Jana Sandanaya on August 07,2024, confirming that his faction would be extending support Mr Premadasa.
The decision was taken at a meeting at the CEY-Nor Foundation Colombo.
The SLFP, which is currently divided into factions, supports separate presidential candidates. The faction led by Nimal Siripala pledged support to President Ranil Wickremesinghe while the faction of former President Maithripla Sirisena is backing Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe.
Customs have detected 228 mobile phones and tabs valued at over Rs 30 million left behind in the duty free shopping complex at the Banaranaike International Airport today, Customs officials said.
