The Disaster Management Centre, today said due to the adverse weather conditions the death toll has increased to 410 and 336 individuals are still missing.
Meanwhile, the Department of Meteorology has announced that heavy showers are expected in Northern and Southern provinces.
In certain parts of the Uva, North-Central and Eastern provinces showers or thunderstorms are expected after 2.00 p.m.
The Irrigation Department has issued red warnings for major floods expected in the Kelani Ganga - Nagalagam Street and Malwathu Oya - Thanthirimale areas. Yellow warnings have been issued for Kelani Ganga - Hanwella, Kalu Ganga - Putupaula, and Kuda Ganga - Kalawellawa (Millakanda). Water levels are detected as falling in these warned areas.
However, so far the water level in the Kelani river has decreased by one foot.
