State Departments, Motor Traffic and Registration of persons have planned to resume their services for the general public with the lifting of quarantine curfew.
The Commissioner General of Motor traffic Sumith Alahakoon said that services provided by Narahempita and Werahera offices which were temporarily suspended due to the pandemic would be recommenced for the public from tomorrow (1).
He stated that services would be carried under strictest control following health care practices. Mr Alahakoon explained that people needing their services must obtain an appointment by dialing 0112677877.
He added that the activities of district officers of the department would be carried out under the guidance of the district secretary of the relevant districts.
The Department of Registration of Persons too would be resuming services at the main office at Battaramulla and all other provincial branch offices from Monday October 4, 2021.
The Commissioner General, Viyani Gunathilaka said that the one day services of issuing national identity cards would not be resumed. However when an application to obtain a national identity card is certified by a Grama Niladhari, the application must be handed over to the respective provincial office of the Department of Registration of Persons. Thereafter the identity card would be sent to the application via registered post.
If any person is in need of an identity card immediately, they could visit the main office of the Department of Registration of Persons or Galle provincial office by getting an appointment during a week day through contact numbers of main office or provincial offices.
