The Department of Examinations has encouraged university lecturers to engage in evaluation of the 2022 G.C.E. Advanced Level examination papers.
Commissioner General of Examinations Mr. Amith Jayasundara said the paper marking activities can be commenced with the participation of the exam markers who have already applied for the task.
The paper marking procedure has been held up for 54 days, the Commissioner further said, adding that the students who sat for the A/L exam are now distressed while the entire education sector is in the face of instability as a consequence.
He also mentioned that the Ministry of Education has given a raise to the payment made per answer sheet.
The 2022 Advanced Level exam took place from January 23 to February 17 this year.
The paper marking process was put off as the Federation of the University Teachers’ Association (FUTA) joined a countrywide one-day strike action headed by the trade union collective of professionals on March 15 against the recent tax revision, electricity tariff hike and several other decisions made by the government.
