Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (SDIG) of Western province Deshabandu Tennakoon has been appointed as Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) for a three-month period a short while ago, Police Media Division announced.
Mr.Tennakoon joined the police service in 1998 and was promoted to a Senior DIG in 2019.
Meanwhile, a proposal is to be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers limiting the service period of an IGP to a maximum of three years.
