Businessman Dhammika Perera set to contest the Presidential election from the SLPP, has cited 'personal reasons' for his decision not to contest the election.
Mr Perera in a letter addressed to the party Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam has communicated his decision today.
He has expressed his gratitude to the party for considering his name as a candidate.
Meanwhile, the SLPP is likely to nominate Namal Rajapaksa as the candidate tomorrow morning at an auspicious time.
Mr Kariyawasam said that the name of the candidate will be known before 8.00 am tomorrow.
