The Chairman of the University Grants Commission, Prof Sampath Amaratunge Saturday said that the issue of delaying G.C.E advanced level paper marking would be resolved within a day or two.
He made these remarks while addressing the ceremony to welcome the first batch of students admitted to the Peradeniya University held at the Post Graduate Institute of Science.
Prof elaborated that today’s situation on the matter is better than yesterday’s situation and had greatly improved from the situation day before.
He explained that the lecturers are not in conflict therefore soon they would engage in paper marking activities. He said that there were indications that some groups would volunteer for paper marking.
He further elaborated that professors would engage in paper marking on a volunteer basis. He added that the paper marking would be made under a memorandum of understanding issued by the Department of exams therefore the secrecy of the student’s exam papers would be secured.
