President Anura Kumara Dissanayake today hinted that the dissolution of Parliament may take place in two days.
President Dissanayake, responding to questions posed by journalists after his visit to receive blessings of the Mahanayaka theras in Kandy said ‘bear with us for the next two days’.
Journalists questioned as to when would be Parliament dissolved, leading to elections.
He said the country changes in many sectors including the laws, the pathway of the economy and culture.
President Dissanayake said during his visit to receive blessings of the Mahanayaka threas, he had pointed out that keeping with the mandate given to him by the public he would be making the required changes.
He said there were expectations of the public and they were ready to fulfill them.
He said the Mahanayaka theras too had pointed out that infrastructure in the rural areas should be developed.
The President said that the changes cannot be made by a single person and the support of the public, industrialist and entrepreneurs etc is needed.
President Dissanayake also visited the Dalada Maligawa and offered a tray of Jasmine flowers in the Inner Sanctum ( Inner Shrine Room ).
Meanwhile, earlier in the day MP Harini Amarasuriya said that the new cabinet will have four members.
The vacancy created in Parliament after the election of Mr Dissanayake as the President has been filled by Lakshman Nipunaarachchi from the Colombo district.
Several more appointments to ministries are due to take place on Tuesday.
