In a surprise move Dr. Prasanna Jayamanne has been appointed as the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) replacing Captain Nihal Keppetipola, official sources said.
According to SLPA sources, this appointment was made by Minister Rohitha Abeygunawardena today (Wednesday). However Minister Abeygunawardena was unavailable for comments up to now.
Dr. Jayamanne is a leading businessman in the country who was serving as a Vice Chairman of the authority.
The Government will make sudden changes of heads in several state institutions including Lake House and some corporations within the next two weeks, informed official sources said. (Bandula)
