A car driver was killed and tourist injured in an accident on the Southern Expressway last night (23), Police said.
The driver in the car who was gravely injured in the accident and a tourist travelling in it were admitted to the Homagama Hospital immediately. The 32 year old driver has died while undergoing treatment.
The deceased was a resident from Akmeemana. The body is placed at the morgue of the Homagama Hospital.
The Police stated that the car that was travelling from Matara to Kadawatha had collided with a Lorry that was pulled over at the Kottawa entrance of the Southern Expressway.
This was the second such accident on the Southern Expressway. Last week two persons were killed when their car crashed into a lorry parked due to a mechanical defect.
