Election officials backed by the Police are due to carryout an inspection today to look into the display of unauthorized cutouts and banners related to Local Government elections still on display near party and independent group offices.
The Election Commission has called all parties and independent groups to pull down unauthorized cutouts, banners and posters on display at their offices as the 48 hour ‘silent period’ commenced at 12 midnight yesterday ahead of the Tuesday’s voting.
The Election Commission also has put out guidelines about the 48 hour ‘silent period’.

Ajith Gallage, the owner of a Bird Park in Nagarawawa, Hambantota, has been remanded over allegations of concealing illegally imported motorcycles, in a warehouse owned by him.
