The Election Commission has given a fresh reminder for political parties and independent groups to submit the names of members to be appointed to Local Government Institutions.
The reminder has been issued as some of names to fill the vacancies, following May 6, elections has not been completed.
According to the Commission, it is required to publish in the Gazette the list of members nominated by each recognized party and independent group that contested the recent Local Government elections.
However, officials noted that several districts have yet to complete and forward the required lists.
In a statement, the Commission reminded that if the names of members are not received, it will not be possible to publish the Gazette notification as mandated by law. Therefore, secretaries of political parties and leaders of independent groups have been urged to immediately forward the nominations to the relevant Returning Officers in line with the Local Government Institutions Elections Ordinance.
Election officials emphasized that timely submission of nominations is essential to avoid administrative delays and to ensure that Local Government Institutions can function effectively.
