The intake of students who sat for Grade 5 Scholarship examination last year has been delayed by one month’s time, Education Ministry Secretary Prof. Kapila Perera said.
He said during this period, the Ministry will look into allegations over the increase of cut off marks issued to admit students to popular schools.
Teacher unions, parents’ associations protested and charged that cut off marks issued by the Education Ministry a few weeks ago have been increased in an unfair manner thereby denying the opportunity for many bright students from villages to enroll in leading schools.
