Eight youth were arrested for the possession of drugs at a party organised via Facebook in the Weligama area, Police said.
The suspects were residents of Weligama, Ranala, Tissamaharamaya, Kananke, Thelijjawila, Wanchawala and Beliatta. They were between the age group of 20 to 30 years.
They are due to be produced at the Matara Magistrate courts.
The raid by the Police were among a string of operations carried out to detect persons involved in drug trafficking over the weekend.
Among the detections reported over the weekend was the arrest of a suspect with 5.3 grams of Heroin in Grandpass and another detection of 5.10 grams of Heroin in the Dematagoda area.
