The Navy has seized Rs.18 million worth of heroin in the Southern sea area.
During a search operation carried out 573 nautical miles off the Dondra,south of Sri Lanka 8 foreign nationals who were aboard a trawler carrying 926 grams of heroin were arrested.
The gross street value of these seized items are around Rs.18.5 million worth.
The trawler and suspects arrested were brought ashore to the port of Colombo yesterday morning(28).
They were identified as Iranian and Pakistani nationals aged between 17 and 42, they were handed over to the Police Narcotic Bureau for further legal action.
