An eight year old boy was killed and his brother (12) was admitted to hospital with severe injuries when a vehicle collided with their bicycle in Navalar road, Jaffna today.
The elder brother who was riding the bicycle was admitted to Jaffna teaching hospital. According to the police, the younger brother who was a pillion rider fell on the road following the collision. He was pronounced to be dead on admission to the hospital.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested by the police and produced before Jaffna Magistrate Ms Nalini Suthakaran today. The driver has been remanded till April 20.
