The Election Commission has delayed taking a decision on the new date for the Local Government elections.
After several hours of discussion the Commission failed to reach a decision today.
Accordingly they have decided to meet on March 7 to decide on the new date.
Earlier the elections were scheduled to be held on March 7.
Meanwhile the Election Commission in a statement issued last night said "Although the Election Commission decided the extended date of holding the local government poll and made arrangements to announce it today - (2023.03.03) according to the decision of SC/FRA/69/2023 heard in the Supreme Court today."
The Election Commission is working to announce the poll date before March 09, 2023 after a discussion with the relevant institutions including the Ministry of Finance.
