Employees of six Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus depots coming under the Rajaraja Bus Company withdrew from their services today over an incident of assault of one of their employees and inaction of the Police causing severe inconvenience to the public.
They claimed that a Depot inspector attached to the Horowpathana depot who is also a trade union leader had been abducted by a private bus owner and assaulted. He has been hospitalized.
The depots affected are Dambulla, Kebeithgollewa, Horowpathana, Kekirawa, Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura.
The workers claim that due to political pressure the persons involved in the attack have been released.
