Former Western Provincial Council member Jayantha de Silva has passed away at the age of 78 years.
He was also a co-organiser for the Borella electorate for the Samagi Jana Balawegaya at the time of his death.
He initially represented the United National Party before joining the SJB.
Mr. de Silva conducted a programme known as ‘Pragna Pradeepa’, where he donated stationary and books to needy school children from 1988.
Mr de Silva received assistance to provide the books from friends and relatives, some of them who were living overseas.
