The cremation of veteran singer Sunil Perera took place at the general cemetery, Borella this evening (6) with a limited gathering due to the COVID-19 conditions.
The immediate family members were allowed to enter the cemetery area while several others including artists, politicians and fans were outside the cemetery.
A Catholic priest conducted the services before the cremation.
The singer passed away at the Nawaloka hospital from where his remains were taken in a motorcade to the cemetery.
Due to strict health regulations many of the fans could not turn-up for the funeral, but they shared messages on social media while condolence messages from politicians, sports persons, artists and several others poured in.
