It was reported that 10 patients who underwent eye surgery in the Nuwara-Eliya District General Hospital had their eyesight weakened due to the use of a faulty eye drop.
The Director General of the Nuwara-Eliya Hospital Mr. Mahendra Seneviratne stated that their eyesight impairments were caused due to the presence of germs in a particular eye medicine imported from India.
Dr. Seneviratne further stated the patients who had undergone surgeries after April 05 had weakened or reduced their eyesight.
Currently, these patients are being treated and gradually are being cured.
