Fire claims life of infant

A three and a half month old child died of burn injuries in the Ambatale area after a water heater exploded causing a fire, Police said today.

The mother had left a 14 year old child to take care of the infant and had visited a neighbour's house.
A water heater pluged on had over-heated and exploded sparking off the fire.
The entire house was damaged in the fire.
