At least five Sri Lankan fishermen were taken into custody by Indian Coast Guard yesterday for entering Indian waters yesterday, the Indian Coastguard said.
Accordingly, the Sri Lankan fishing vessel along with five arrested Sri Lankan fishermen was brought to Tharuvaikulam Sea shore of Tamil Nadu today and handed over to the Coastal Security Group for further action. The fishing vessel is kept at Tharuvaikulam jetty.
The arrested fishermen are from Negombo. Some 150 Kg of fish stock was found inside the fishing boat as well, according to Indian Coast Guard.
