Acting on a tip-off, officers from the Wattala Police stopped a suspicious motor car at Elakanda, Wattala Sunday night and arrested five suspects who were in the possession of two fake pistols.
Police also found 5.1 grams of heroin and a pair of handcuff manufactured in England in the suspects' possession.
The arrested suspects are aged 29, 30, 32, 42 and 46 years of age and are residents of Modera, Kelaniya, Grandpass and Jampata Street.
The suspects were produced before the Welisara Magistrate's Court yesterday (20) and were remanded in custody till September 27. Wattala Police are investigating.
