A foreign made pistol along with several rounds of ammunition have been found from the vehicle of former Western Province Governor Azath Salley, who was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) last evening, police said.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said CID officers had searched the former governor's vehicle after his arrest and had found the pistol and ammunition inside.
Mr Salley is currently being held in detention and interrogated by the CID under provisions of the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).
