Former parliamentarian Duminda Silva is yet to be transferred from Sri Jayawardenapura Hospital to The Prisons or National hospitals following the suspension of the presidential pardon granted to him by Supreme Court on Wednesday.
The Prisons Department Spokesman Gamini Dissnayake told Times Online that they have made the request from Sri Jayawardenapura Hospital to transfer him.
Prions have requested the specialist doctor’s opinion whether Mr Silva needs in house treatment or can be discharged and placed in prisons or national hospital. “Therefore the prisons are awaiting the clearance of the specialist doctor to take action”, he said.
The Supreme Court three-judge-bench comprising Justices Preethi Padman Surasena, Gamini Amarasekara and Arjuna Obeysekera ordered to set aside the Presidential pardon granted to Duminda Silva on 2021.
Former Defence Ministry Monitoring MP Duminda Silva was sentenced to death by Colombo High Court in 2016 for committing the murder of four persons, including former Parliamentarian Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra.
