Fourteenth Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy Daya Sandagiri joined the Samagi Jana Balavegaya (SJB) upon meeting Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa earlier today.
He was appointed as the advisor of maritime and naval affairs to SJB.
The former commander assumed duties on January 1, 2001, and served for nearly four years. He was also appointed as the Admiral and the Chief of Defense Staff on September 1, 2005 where he served for 10 years.
He later became the fourth Chancellor of Sri John Kotalawala Defense University on November 9, 2015.

In his special statement, President Ranil Wickremesinghe announced that debt restructuring agreements will postpone all bilateral loan payments to foreign countries until 2028. Additionally, Sri Lanka will have until 2043 to repay these loans on concessional terms.
