A Police officer on suspension, attached to the Kandalama Police Division, was tied to a tree and later found dead this morning (9).
The deceased was a father of two, and his wife was abroad.
He is believed to have been killed by his relatives following constant arguments with his wife and his mother-in-law.
A brother of the mother-in-law, together with his son, had tied this former police officer to a tree and had beaten him, leaving him there till this morning.
The Dambulla Police reported that, in the morning, the victim had died.
The deceased was identified as Herath Bandara, a 45-year-old resident of Kandalama.
The brother of the mother-in-law and his son were arrested by the Dambulla Police.
Further investigations regarding the incident are underway.
