At least fourteen Indian fishermen were taken into custody for engaging in fishing near Point Pedro sea, Jaffna last night by Navy along with a trawler.
According to the Navy, the fishermen were arrested off Point Pedro sea, Jaffna last night when they were engaging in bottom trawling, an illegal fishing method banned in Sri Lanka in its territorial waters without a license.
The arrested fishermen from Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu are scheduled to be produced before Court today.-( N. Lohathayalan)
