The conduct of the G.C.E. (O/L) examination for 2021 has been further postponed until February 21, next year, Education Minister Prof G.L. Peiris told a news conference today (26).
He said accordingly the exam will be conducted from February 21 to March 3.

The exam has been postponed as most schools have not been able to complete the syllabuses for the students.
Completing the syllabuses has run into issues with the teachers withdrawing from online education programmes.
The teachers have been demanding that the government clears the salary anomalies and also withdraws the proposed Kothalawala Defence University Bill.
The Cabinet is due to take up a cabinet paper for discussion today (26) regarding the salary issues of the teachers, but teachers are insisting that the government implements the proposals which have already been agreed upon.
