The Education Ministry in consultation with the Examinations Department has decided to to delay the conduct of the GCE Advance Level (A/L) and Grade 5 Scholarship examinations.
Accordingly, GCE (A/L) exam which was scheduled to be held in October is postponed to November 15 till December 10 while Grade 5 Scholarship exam will be held on November 14, Education Minister Prof G L Peiris said at a media briefing.
Decision to postpone these exams was taken to mitigate the health risk for students, he said.
The minister further said the reason for the delay in releasing 2020 GCE (O/L) results was due to the inability to hold practical tests for aesthetic studies given the health constraints. These practical tests are now scheduled to be held this year (2021) August 28 to September 8, after which only the last year’s exam results could be released, he said.
Meanwhile the deadline to submit applications for Grade 1 has been postponed to August 7. Prof Peiris concluded.
