A Motor cycle was used by couple to steal a handbag of a women leading to a murder in Gampaha on Tuesday has been found to be a stolen bike, police said.
The Motor bike left behind was the prime evidence from the crime scene to detect the suspects.
A 30 year old bank employee was stabbed to death while attempting to detain the suspects.
A couple who had arrived on a motorcycle had fallen off the bike after attempting to steal the handbag of a woman who was returning home with a friend.
The friend had shouted loud to call her father who was standing in front of the house located near the crime scene . Her husband too had come out trying to stop the robbers who were trying to escape on the motor cycle.
The robber had stabbed the two men opposite of their house and fled.
The two injured men had been admitted to the Gampaha Hospital after which one person succumbed to his injuries.
The man who was stabbed to dead was an employee in a State bank.
The Gampaha Police has launched a special investigation to arrest the suspects.
Police are in the process of collecting other evidence including CCTV footage.
