The Gazette notification banning several single use plastic items is to be issued today, the Central Environmental Authority (CEA) said.
The CEA said that the gazette notification has already been sent to the Government Printer for publication.
Under the proposal single use of plastic forks, knives, stirring utensils, spoons, yoghurt spoons, (excluding yogurt cups), plastic flower garlands, plastic string hopper trays will be banned.
The ban is to be effective from June 1.
