The generator at the Lakvijaya Power Plant in Norochcholai which was out of order has been repaired and reconnected to the national grid with plans to restore 300 MW.
Additional General Manager of the Power and Energy Ministry Andrew Nawamani said that 160 MW of electricity has been added to the national grid and will be able to go into the full capacity of 300 MW soon. The third generator at the plant has been out of order since December 3.
The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) will today announce its decision if power cuts were necessary. Earlier the PUCSL said that until Monday (today) the power cuts were not necessary.
