A man who pretended to be a 'Good Samaritan' by helping to take a person with injuries to the Kandy hospital was found to be involved in the accident that caused his injuries leading to his death.
The experience of a Police Officer ended in taking into custody as the person responsible for the death of a 60-year-old from Deegala. He was knocked down at Watuwela Juncion on the Kandy - Katugastota road.
Acting like a "Good Samaritan," the driver of the vehicle from Kurunegala admitted the injured man to the Kandy General Hospital with injuries, claiming that the individual sustained the injuries in a fall.
The Police Post Officer through experience took down his mobile telephone number.
The driver had told the officer at the Police Post that he had brought the injured in his own vehicle and admitted him to the hospital.
The Police Officer at the Police Post at the Kandy General Hospital sent the mobile Telephone number to the OIC of Katugastota Chief Inspector I.R.Rajapakse and commenced investigations with the Traffic Divsion OIC Inspector A. Ranweera.
They checked a CCTV camera installed near the area of the accident and found that the " Good Samaritan ' had got down from the vehicle and had taken the injured into the vehicle .
With this evidence, the Police confronted the suspect who is alleged to have admitted that he knocked down the man and brought him to the Kandy Hospital.
During investigations, the Katugastota Police had found that the suspect had knocked down the 60-year-old male.
