The government had decided to transfer 216.8 million rupees in the “Itukama covid -19, fund to the president’s fund to be used for medical expenses.
This move was taken as the government decided to terminate the Itukama Covid – 19 health and Social Security Fund, Secretary of the fund Tharaka Liyanapathirna said.
He added Mr Liyanapathirna requested the public to not to further deposit money to the Bank of Ceylon account 85737373 as well as not to send fund to the president’s office as they have terminated the fund.
He explained that the fund which amounted Rs 2.2 billion amount of 2 billion was used to purchase PCR kits, raise awareness, and carry out quarantining of infected persons.
