The Government Printer has requested the Ministry of Media to provide the required finances and advice on proceeding to print the ballot papers for the upcoming Local Government elections.
The Printer Gangani Liyanage in the letter addressed to the Secretary of the Media Ministry Anusha Pelpita said the required funds and advice has been sought keeping with the circulars issued by the Finance Ministry on expenses.
The Government Printers department comes under the purview of the Ministry of Media. The letter states the circular mentioned prioritizing expenses and any official violating the circulars will be held personally responsible.
The Printer says that the estimated printing cost for ballot papers is Rs 234.6 million while the total estimated expenses is Rs 401.6 million for printing. The letter also indicated that the advice is also being sought in view of the legal action which is pending.
