Medical staff attached to government hospitals staged protests today across the country raising severe concerns about the shortage of drugs and health supplements alleging the government's failure of mismanaging the economy put thousands of lives at risk.
Doctors, nurses and other medical staff attached to the National Hospital of Sri Lanka (NHSL), in other districts and base hospitals staged protests demanding the government take immediate measures to ensure adequate medical supplies urgently.
Medical Trade Unions have noted that many state hospitals have postponed surgeries and other medical procedures due to the shortage of medical supplies.
