Cabinet has approved a proposal made by the Health Minister to import 300, 000 liters of medical oxygen on a weekly basis.
This has been done as the number of patients who are dependent on oxygen has increased due to the spread of the Delta COVID-19 variant.
Earlier, Cabinet approval had been granted to import 120, 000 litres of oxygen on a monthly basis to ensure the supply of liquid medical oxygen to COVID patients in critical condition.
However, this has now been revised to import 300, 000 litres on a weekly basis to enable them to be stored and ready owing to the sharp increase in those who are needing oxygen.
