Cabinet has approved a proposal to purchase the Nadu variety of paddy at Rs 55 per kilogram through the Paddy Marketing Board.
This is done with the aim of purchasing the paddy harvest from farmers at a competitive price during the 2021 Yala Season, the government said.
The paddy stocks that are purchased in this manner will be milled into rice and will sold to customers at a reasonable price through the Sathosa outlet network, the government added.
