State Minister of Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya says that import restrictions levied on 328 more items will be relaxed tonight (July 20).
The Government imposed restrictions on the import of 1,465 items owing to the financial meltdown last year.
Hence, this announcement follows a month after the government eased up import restrictions on 300 other items inclusive of electronic equipment, sanitary ware and certain food items taken effect from June 09.
Despite that, lifting import barriers on vehicles will remain restricted on account of the current economic standing, Minister Siyambalapitiya further asserted.
