NPP National List MP Harini Amarasuriya was sworn in as the country's new Prime Minister a short while ago.
She took oaths before President Anura Kumara Disaanayake .
She’s the country’s third woman prime minister after Mrs. Sirimavo Bandaranaike ( the world’s first & four times in all) and Chandrika Kumaratunga who held the post briefly before becoming the country’s first woman president in 1994.
She has also been sworn in as Minister of Justice, Education, Labour, Industries, Science and Technology, Health and Investment.
