The Supreme Court has decided to take up the petition of the retired Army colonel seeking a postponement of the Local Government elections on February 23 , as previously scheduled.
The petition was taken up today on a motion filed by the lawyers.
However, the lawyers today told courts that there was no necessity to expedite the motion as there was information that the postal voting will not be held as scheduled.
The motion was filed on the grounds that the postal voting was due to start on February 22 and the hearing had been fixed only for the following day.
However, following last week’s developments the Election Commission announced that the postal voting will not be held as scheduled.
