Uva, Eastern and Central provinces and Polonnaruwa, Hambantota and Mullaitivu districts will receive heavy rainfall (above 100mm), the Meteorology Department forecasted.
“Due to a low-level atmospheric disturbance to the south of Sri Lanka, prevailing showery conditions over the island are likely to continue in the next 24 hours,” the advisory issued by the Department’s Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre said.
Lahugala weather station in Ampara district has recorded the highest rainfall of 184.0 mm during the past 24 hours.
Cloudy skies will prevail over most areas while morning rainfall is expected in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces as well.
