The Meteorology Department issued a red alert warning for five provinces including the Western province. Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces will receive heavy rainfall (above 150 mm) today as a result of a low-level atmospheric disturbance near the country.
People living in land slide-prone areas and low-lying areas in river basins are requested to be vigilant. Yakkalamulla in Galle district received the highest rainfall of 195 mm in the last 24 hours.
