The Parliamentary debate on the Second Reading of the Presidents' Entitlements (Repeal) Bill will be held today (10).
The debate will be held from 11.30am to 3.30pm. A vote on the motion will be taken thereafter.
Announcing the Supreme Court's determination on the Bill, Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne informed Parliament yesterday that the Supreme Court has found that the Bill is not inconsistent with the Constitution and can be passed with a simple Parliamentary majority.
The bill seeks to do away with official residences and monthly allowances paid to former presidents or their widows.
It also seeks to do away with the monthly secretarial allowance and official transport and such other facilities provided to a former President or their widow.
